Marcia Cross to Become Real-Life Wife
Posted by Wendy Michaels Categories: ABC, CBS, Desperate Housewives, Announcements, Rumors,
No telling how desperate she’ll be though. Entertainment Tonight reports that Desperate Housewives Marcia Cross will be tying the knot this weekend, marrying wealth manager Tom Mahoney. The two began dating in January of 2005 and have been engaged since August. Of course, no big details to reveal here for privacy’s sake, but they will be married at a beach front hotel outside of Los Angeles. Marcia recently told Entertainment Tonight that “I’m really thrilled that I met someone that I want to spend the rest of my life with”. Best Wishes!

Shatner Roasted by Comedy Central
Posted by Wendy Michaels Categories: Comedy, Cable, Announcements,
I love a good roast…no, not beef…the other white meat. William Shatner. OK, kidding aside, I love to watch the Comedy Central roasts, even if I’m not so interested in the celebrity receiving the ribbing. Case in point – Pamela Anderson was roasted last year, and while she typically isn’t my cup of tea, I couldn’t help but laugh along. There are some crappy jokes, to be sure, but also the over-the-top “I can’t believe so-and-so just said that” variety. So, come August 20th when Shatner’s Roast airs, I’ll be checking it out to see what everyone has to say about our beloved Captain Kirk.

Aaron Spelling, the most prolific television producer of all time, died Friday at his home near Beverly Hills. As we reported earlier this week, Spelling, 83, suffered a stroke last Sunday. The severity of his illness was not disclosed at the time. Aaron’s wife, Candy, and his son, Randy, were with him during his passing. It is not clear if his daughter, Tori Spelling, was present as well. Aaron Spelling’s contributions to the television landscape include classics such as Dynasty, Beverly Hills 90210, Melrose Place, The Love Boat and Charlie’s Angels.

Join the Viral Revolution – Connie Chung Sings
Posted by Wendy Michaels Categories: Talent, Cable/Satellite, Cancellations, Internet, News,
Yikes, this one is scary…Connie Chung singing. If you’re not one of the 300,000+ people who have checked out the video of Connie singing on the final episode of Weekends With Maury & Connie following its cancellation, you might want to count yourself lucky. I’ve seen the video clip (the horror!) and heard it (my eardrums will never be the same), and I have to say it probably is much more horrific than you could imagine. But the curious nature of Internet users cannot be denied – and so the clip has become an instant hit in terms of viewer-ship. Sadly, the amount of viewers who have seen this online, surpasses the viewer-ship that Weekends with Maury & Connie ever had.
If you’d like to check it out, visit YouTube, but I warn you, you’ll never be the same again and you’ll never get those 3 minutes of your life back.

Ray Romano to Star in HBO Comedy?
Posted by Christina Furtado Categories: Comedy, Cable, HBO, 24, Talent, Rumors,
According to a story in The Hollywood Reporter, Ray Romano of Everybody Loves Raymond fame is in talks to star in his own limited-run HBO comedy series from Joel Surnow and Bob Cochran, the creators of 24. The ten episode single-camera series would feature Romano as a billionaire who finds out he only has six months to live. Dennis Klein, creator of The Larry Sanders Show, is on board as a writer and, along with Surnow, Cochran and Romano, as executive producer.
After my recent musings about the future of HBO, it’s good to hear about something potentially interesting in development, though I don’t know if Romano will be believable as a billionaire.

Woo Hoo! Celebrity Fit Club Coming in August
Posted by Wendy Michaels Categories: Reality, Cable, Talent,
Celebrity Fit Club is one of those train-wreck kinda shows – you don’t want to watch… but you start to watch…and before you know it, you’re totally sucked in! I love watching B-, C-, D-listers struggle with their weight. Come on, you know you like it too!
I saw this little nugget about Carnie Wilson joining the Fit Club gang and couldn’t “weight” (hee hee, couldn’t resist) to see who else would be hopping on those giant scales. Just an aside, but – really? Is that huge scale necessary? Goofiest reality show gimmick, for sure!
Anyhoo, Carnie, once weighing 300 pounds, has lost a reported 20 dress sizes from gastric bypass surgery in 1999 (which seems a bit like cheating, doesn’t it?) and still struggles to keep the weight off following the recent birth of her daughter. According to Entertainment Tonight, she still has 40 more pounds to lose, so off she goes to Celebrity Fit Club.
The other “celebrities” include Tina Yothers (“Family Ties”), Vincent Pastore (“The Sopranos”), R&B singer Angie Stone, Nick Turturro (“NYPD Blue”), Erika Eleniak (“Baywatch”), rapper Bonecrusher, and Ted Lange (the bartender from “Love Boat” – that alone should have you watching!). Celebrity Fit Club premieres Sunday, August 6th.

The Coreys - Haim and Feldman - To Get Own TV Show
Posted by Christina Furtado Categories: Cable, Talent, News, Rumors,
The creators of Wife Swap are about to begin pitching a TV show called The Coreys, about 80s movie stars Corey Haim and Corey Feldman, to cable networks this week. It’s not a reality show, though—according to Moviehole, “they’ll play fictionalised versions of themselves a la Curb Your Enthusiasm.” The premise has Feldman enjoying suburbia with his wife when his single opposite, Haim, comes back into his life to stir things up. The pair haven’t shared the screen together since 1996’s direct-to-video, Feldman-directed Busted, and have apparently only recently begun patching up some differences they had in the late 90s.
While I’m glad they’re not going the straight-up reality show route with this, it could be perfectly horrible. Or it could be the most brilliant thing to hit TV in years, depending on the writing and the Coreys’ willingness to not take themselves seriously. Look for it to hit cable in the Fall if it gets picked up, and we’ll see which is the case.

The man who brought you such TV gold as Dynasty, The Love Boat, and Beverly Hills 90210 had a stroke at his home over the weekend. According to his rep, “He is resting at home under a doctor’s care.” At present, there is no information about the severity of the stroke. 83 year-old Spelling is a TV icon, having produced 200 shows, all with their own level of flair (Charlie’s Angels), silliness (Fantasy Island) and sex appeal (Melrose Place). No comment yet from daughter Tori.
